MsBrains (ms-brains):

PLEASE HELP ME BY CHECKING MY WORK?! I WILL MEDAL AND FAN. :)

MsBrains (ms-brains):

@jim_thompson5910 Can you help me, if you aren't busy?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think your right... but let @jim_thompson5910 check

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just incase... lol

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

16/200 = 0.08 2/25 = 0.08 so that shows 16/200 = 2/25. It looks good

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yay good job @Ms-Brains

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Thanks buddy! :) What about this one guys?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

I'm thinking either A or B

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

What we want: the goal is to get `m/n` on one side 9n = 3m 9n/n = 3m/n ... divide both sides by n 9 = 3m/n 9*(1/3) = (3m/n)*(1/3) ... multiply both sides by 1/3 9/3 = m/n m/n = 9/3 m/n = 3/1

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Oh, okay. Thanks! What about this one?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

or you can do it this way 9n = 3m 9n/3 = 3m/3 ... divide both sides by 3 3n = 1m 3n = m 3n/n = m/n ... divide both sides by n 3/1 = m/n m/n = 3/1

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Awesome. cx I posted a new attached file too. I'll re-post it

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

whenever it comes to ratios, ask yourself "do the pieces have any factors in common?" If the answer is "yes", then you can divide each piece by that factor to reduce the ratio. You keep doing this until the only factor they have in common is 1

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Okay. :) So it isn't A?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

going from `6y:8y` to `6:8` you divided each piece by the shared factor `y`. But is there more dividing left to be done?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

do 6 and 8 have anything in common?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Uhh..no?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you sure? list out the factors of each

MsBrains (ms-brains):

You know what, let's just move on to the next problem, I need to figure them out quick. I'll do this one later..

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

factors of 6: 1,2,3,6 factors of 8: 1,2,4,8

MsBrains (ms-brains):

They have 1, 2, in common?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yes divide each term (6 and 8) by that greatest common factor 2 to fully reduce the ratio

MsBrains (ms-brains):

3:4 is correct?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yes since 6/2 = 3 8/2 = 4

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Awesome!

MsBrains (ms-brains):

What about this one @jim_thompson5910

OpenStudy (gabebae):

That one is correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay this is right. Because you divide each side by 10.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

BUT

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Confirm with someone else lol @Ms-Brains

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Also.. @Ms-Brains It is better to make another post. You can get more help.

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Thanks guys. last one!

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

6/5 is correct

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Thanks guys! 5/5 :) I'm off to take my quiz now.
