Can someone help me with a few geometry questions please? I'm stuck on these.. Medal will be given for whoever wants to help. Thanks.

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Whatcha got? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

find the value of y for which line a is parallel to line b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

On the opposite side of the line, on line B, we are given a value for an angle. The value is 33. When you have a completely straight line your degree is 180 degrees. Do you know what to do from here?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

divide?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not quite. If the value of that angle is 33, then the angle opposite, which in this case is angle X, is the same number. All you have to do to find the value of angle Y, is to subtract 33 from 180.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

147?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep! Good job.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you help me on another one? It's my last question lol.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'll definitely try!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, thank you! It's similar to this one I think. Find the values of x and y for which the lines are parallel.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay so for the two lines that are parallel, one of the angles says 74. That means that the other angle that is on the other line, is also 74. We now have one of our angles. Because the value of X is X-5, and the value needs to be 74, we can knock out two of the answers It will either be A or D. We also have to keep the angle 58 in mind. So what you need to do is figure out which answer for Y will give you a total of 106.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Basically just add 58 to either 47+1 or 49+1 and what ever gives you 106 is your answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you!! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem! I'm a weirdo and I actually enjoy doing geometry :)

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Great job @mackykayla :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks @johnweldon1993 !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol well you're lucky, I suck at it. but passed my test so thank you soooo much!!
