I need help describing how the church influenced the Medieval society. i get that everything was based around it, but i just need some examples to jog my memory

Well the church was considered a "haven" for some people, because it promised heaven etc. It also helped injured, weak, and people in need. It also played a big role in wars as it remained neutral, but then crusades took place in order to get back territory (the holy lands)
