as long as there are users using the site (and are active) it wont stop lagging.

The site shuts down sometimes do to the fact then when (does not always apply) servers are loaded, they stop accepting http requests and will return a 404, 403, or just plain will never load the request, this is only true for the server side script, client side will still load...

This means when the site is loaded, the comet/ajax pending systems break, crash, crash and burn, whatever you want to call it, basically they stop working.

this is why they need to change to websockets with if they want a comet/ajax fallback... BECAUSE WE WOULDNT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THAT!

Lets not forget when in times of it being loaded, it may stop certain requests due to the funky way OS accepts them.. then there are the times when the server is trying to catch up with the requests because it is loaded (AKA Chat lag when it takes an hour to see the message you entered)

So to sum up... I can basically tell ya why and what each thing that lags is, what its caused by, and how it can be fixed :P
