This problem is asking us to assume that lines that look parallel are indeed parallel. That is an assumption that we normally cannot make in geometry.

Not side BD. It is one of the two parallel sides. See attachment. The diagram should have been marked as to which pair of sides is parallel. I took that liberty with the diagram.
