Help, Thanks If two electric fences have the same voltage how can one fence give off more of a shock then the other? Explain what must be different about the electrical settings of the circuit.

OpenStudy (radar):

One consideration would be the internal impedance of the voltage sources supplying each fence. For example the voltage at the sparkplug is several kilovolts, but it won't kill you just give you a big jolt, while 480 volt line voltage to an electric motor will kill you.

OpenStudy (radar):

The internal impedance determines the voltage source capability to drive current thru whatever touches the fence.

OpenStudy (radar):

Another consideration may be the conductivity of the ground (earth) which the fences are placed around.
