There is a total of 27 amendments. When the bill of rights was first made there were only 10 amendments. It would be typical for new amendments to be added, especially in our country. We have a very young and growing country. Mistakes will be made, problems will be solved. For example: The 3rd Amendment prevents the government from housing troops in residents homes... which was only made because this actually happened. Great Britain at the time still considered it "ok" to throw whatever people they wanted into our homes. Who wants to feed some random accented soldier, and give him shelter... um not me. Every amendment preserves a particular right for the american citizens. Try to think of some major issues that might in the future effect the Bill of Rights. Maybe something on immigrants, especially with all the talk about the terrorists in France. The U.S might want to make a amendment on immigrants rights.
