Can anyone give me a background of Jim Crow Laws and how it effected people in that time period?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://classroomhelp.com/till/jimcrow.html here is a link to a page that will tell you all about it. Hope this helps!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you seems like it gives good info!(:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So Jim Crow Laws were laws requiring racial segregation. Black people were segregated in all public places. Basically, laws that promoted discrimination.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know this seems to much but is there anyway you could help me start out writing a letter about this? @LadyGinger

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im horrible at the first few sentences

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k well how do you want to start, dramatic?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i think dramatic would be good he wants it to be creative

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok well what is something interesting that u learned?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That some Caucasians risked there lives to make African Americans equal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know their names?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Um no it did not say

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k that would be another question to ask. Does anyone know what the names where of the Caucasians who risked their lives for black freedom?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think this might give some names http://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/the-freedom-riders-then-and-now-45351758/?no-ist

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it says Etheridge

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok lets use that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Joan Pleuene

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hellen O'Neal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright. Did you know that Hellen O'Neal gave up her life for black freedom. well, she wasnt the only one(insert other people here)also gave up thier lives for this cause.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Would it be a good idea to start it off with a question ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sometimes it is good, but i can see you don't want to go that route...how about: Hellen O'Neal and many others gave up their lives for the freedom of African Americans. Their deaths did not go to waste because they helped many people.......

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yay or nay?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im trying to think if i can run with that idea or not

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hellen O'Neal and many others gave up their lives for the freedom of African Americans. Their deaths did not go to waste because they helped many people, it may have taken a long time ... ugh i dont know

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have no idea what to write

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That wassuch a good start i wanted to read more!!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know how to continue that last sentence

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How does this sound @LadyGinger Helen O'Neal and many others gave up their lives for the freedom of African Americans. Their deaths did not go to waste because they helped many people, it may have taken a long time for people to understand African-Americans weren’t meant for slavery.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

THAT

OpenStudy (anonymous):

WAS

OpenStudy (anonymous):

AWESOME

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you go girl!!! I am so proud of you for pulling that off!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I added another sentence .. Helen O'Neal and many others gave up their lives for the freedom of African Americans. Their deaths did not go to waste because they helped many people, it may have taken a long time for people to understand African-Americans weren’t meant for slavery. Just because someone wasn’t from here or doesn’t look like you means that they have to be a slave? now hat doesn’t sound right. should i ask a question in the letter or leave it out?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like i can change that question and just leave it as a sentence

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well change it to this; Just because someone wasn’t born and raised where you were and doesn’t look like you means that they have to be a slave!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats even better! thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No Problem Nikki!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It wants me to talk about the law so whats another point i can talk about beside the freedom riders? any ideas?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The jim crow laws were only made because americans were scared of a new race!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay thats good

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i hope that helped you i gotta log off here pretty soon. anything else?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no thats it thanks so much !
