did you still need help? @leothelion
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yeah
OpenStudy (anonymous):
alright so first we want to combine like terms... could you do that?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok

so we start with
32-6x+7x=-5+28
so sum up the coefficients on the sum and then sum up the right
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so we get 32+x=23
OpenStudy (anonymous):
32-13x=13
OpenStudy (anonymous):
its -15
OpenStudy (anonymous):
not - 5

nice try but no when you add a negative to a positive you subtract
OpenStudy (anonymous):
but my bad i wrote it down wrong haha restart!!
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so i was right i did subtract
OpenStudy (anonymous):
15 - 38 is 13
OpenStudy (anonymous):
28

so we start at:
32-6x+7x=-15+28
add the two variables: so in a simple form we have:
7x-6x=1x or x
so our equation is:
32+x=-15+28
follow?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yep
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok i c what i did i was adding like terms but it was coefficients
OpenStudy (anonymous):
okay so we then simplify the right side of the equation:
32+x=-15+28
subtract:
28-15=13
so then we go back to our equation:
32+x=13
subtract 32 from both sides:
32-32+x=13-32
give it a try...
OpenStudy (anonymous):
0+x=19

yes but what you have to take into consideration is the positive or negative aspect of the coefficient ......... and close :) it would be -19
so x=-19
