Hayhayz (hayhayz):

Given the parent function of f(x) = x4, what change will occur when the function is changed to f(−2x)?

OpenStudy (bibby):

\(f(x)=x^4\implies f(-2x)\)?

Hayhayz (hayhayz):

these are the choices : graph opens the same way and is narrower graph opens the same way and is wider graph opens the opposite way and is narrower graph opens the opposite way and is wider

OpenStudy (bibby):

\(f(-2x)=(-2x)^4=16x^4\) it opens the same way because they both have a positive coefficient, now we want to see if it's narrower or wider

OpenStudy (bibby):

this might help http://puu.sh/lrcNJ/80c6908af9.png

Hayhayz (hayhayz):

so it would be c?

OpenStudy (bibby):

I just said they both open the same way

OpenStudy (bibby):

in fact, you can see it in the picture

Hayhayz (hayhayz):

my bad I meant a

OpenStudy (bibby):

that's correct, sorry if I sounded upset

Hayhayz (hayhayz):

no its okay I just looked at the last part that's why I accidently said c, but thank you for explaining!

OpenStudy (bibby):

np, feel free to tag me in the future
