OpenStudy (delaneymallory):

If someone could set this up for me, or show me how to do this type of problem, that'd be great. If the midpoint between (18, y) and (20, -15) is (19, -5), find the value of y.

OpenStudy (delaneymallory):

@welshfella Is there any chance you could help me set this up? You seem to be really good that this.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

the midpoint of the line joining (x1 ,y1) and (x2, y2) is [(x1 + x2)/2 , (y1 + y2)/2] so plug in the given values and you can find y.

OpenStudy (delaneymallory):

Thank you!!

OpenStudy (welshfella):

you only need to find a y value so you have (y - 15)/2 = -5 find y
