@hartnn

OpenStudy (baru):

use the triangle law of vectors to find vector OR in terms of x and y. you can find all the required vector in terms of the vertical vector x and the horizontal vector OR. for example, to go from O to point P, we need to go two units up: so 2x and two units left: so -OR

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'm also getting 2x-y but the book answer says it is 3x-y

OpenStudy (baru):

OR is not y use the triangle law to find OR in terms of x and y

i'm not sure how to do...can u show me ur working pls

OpenStudy (baru):

shift the tail of vector X to the head of vector OR, but keep it paralell to the original X

OpenStudy (baru):

now, Y=OR+X

OpenStudy (baru):

because to get to the tip of Y, you have to go along OR and then along X

OpenStudy (baru):

so, rearrange OR=y-x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i get it to find op,\[OP=2x+x-y\]\[op=3x-y\]

Thank you @baru
