Suggestion: Progress Towards Next SS
yes please! lol
Take a look at this mock-up I made:
It would look something like that...
Hey, I think thats AWESOME!! ^.^
Thanks :D I think we definitely should have better stats on OS...
yeah, we definitely need that, everyone would love that!
good idea
i really want to know what 1/1000000000000 way i am to 100ss
awesome idea
and i really want to know what way jim and ganeshie are on the way to 100
...the only thing I don't like... which im sure the mods won't like either, are the medal spammers. They'd know exactly what to do and bam! you have people cheating on os all over the place desperate trying to reach 99 ss as fast as possible. ugh.. but yeah, it's a great idea :)
there is no way to stop spammers anyways
Just report them lol
yyeah
:P
:P
:P
It would only encourage and help users to medal spam, and artificially increase their smartscores.
3 :P's and each has different color name xD
I believe this has been suggested before, but I don't think it will work because of the variables involved in calculating a SmartScore. It is not entirely point based as you may think. The SmartScore is more of a comparative score between users. For example there can only be 1 level 100. And perhaps 100 level 99s, and 200 level 98s, (not exact) but something like that. This way, if you are active enough (more active than someone that is a higher level than you) then you will displace them. (and by active I mean - helping with questions sort of thing). Therefore the SmartScore is a displacement system, not entirely a point system - and with so many users trying to displace each other all the time -- there is not really a reliable "progress bar" that can be made.
Wow! That is an Absolutely Great idea mate!!! @Preetha, please do have a look at this hypothesis. I do believe it will flourish one day! :)
I always wanted something like this. @Jaynator495
Wow, @jigglypuff314, I never realized the SS system was comparatively based... well, that would kinda make this impossible to do...
Does that mean you can lose your smartscore?
Also, closing...
Yes, @MalcolmMcSwain. It is possible. It happened to me once. It happens when someone removes the Medal they have given you and some other stuff.
Well, can it be removed if someone surpasses you in number of medals?
Uh, not particularly.
"This way, if you are active enough (more active than someone that is a higher level than you) then you will displace them. (and by active I mean - helping with questions sort of thing)." -jiggly
So, the top 100 users are 99ers
if you surpass one of them, you replace them
That's basically what jiggly said.
But that's not a fair system... because people who have just joined OS have a disadvantage over people who have been on for a longer period of time.

My guess is they just don't want to put the time in :P
the only issue is since i dont have access to the db, i can only compile users and all the data that would be needed... and constantly update it, it would be highly inefficient and maybe even inaccurate without proper access to the database... TL:DR; Just another reason i need to fix OS.
\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @malcolmmcswain Wow, @jigglypuff314, I never realized the SS system was comparatively based... well, that would kinda make this impossible to do... \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) see thats where your wrong! this is 100% possible, because of how its compared :P just would be a crap ton of information being processed, that is if it weren't for the fact they already have a main value needed! meaning all you need to calculate it is this value and the users percentile, then compare this value vs others (highest value percentile below you, and lowest value percentile above you) then just update the level bar in accordance with your standing (and the lowest value above you would be how much you need to gain (+100 to make it more accurate) of ss points to gain the next level) The best part to make this even easier, The system i mentioned is already implemented for the SS table! meaning its that much easier once again to do it! :P
By impossible, I meant TOO. MUCH. WERK.
@Jaynator495
but u a hard worker <3
I basicaly just said that it would barely be hard considering the system is basically already existing x'D you just need to hook it up to a HTML progress bar and fire some events every time someone gains points, and empty it when the next percentile is reached... Basically 90% of it is already done which is the sad part x'D
Then can you had it @Jaynator495
add
if only... XD
yes, but as i said it will be a crapton overcomplicated and laggy unless i can actually do it server side x'D
Then do it. :)
no
It's going to be messed up unless Jay has access to the database what do you not understand when Jay said that already??
What do you not understand that he said he can do it
He said he can do it, but that it would not be that effiecient, and laggy. So you want to add lag to lag and make lag^2? ;p
Well, it is only going to be for people with the extension.
and it's going to be laggy
For people with the extension, yes.
so why would you want to do that ???
I just want something new.
And I can always get rid of it later. :)
so why would you want to do that ???
Did you not just hear me? XD
Lol, see ya gonna go play Battlefront
you don't understand anything there is no point in a feature that will take a lot of time to make but that no one will be able to use it.
AT LEAST SOMEONE GETS IT! XD i have a massive list of features like that :) Srsly, when i actually gain access to os to improve it, i have over 50+ features that i can add, and will make sense and work well and... and it will be awesome x'D But who knows when and if ill ever gain access to the database and the os code ._.
i can grant you access
^ thanks for the access qwerty ;)
