OpenStudy (cutiecomittee123):

Let h=vo^2/2.9sinthetacostheta Model the horizontal distance in meters travled by a projectile. If the initial velocity is 44 meters/secon, which equation would you use to find the angle needed to travel 150 meters?

OpenStudy (cutiecomittee123):

I think it would be 8.98sin(2theta)=150 since if you set the equation to 150 and add in the pieces the word problem gives us 150=44/4.9sinthetacostheta and 44/4.9=8.98 so 150=8.98sinthetacostheta

OpenStudy (cutiecomittee123):

oh wait but since the intial velocity is squared then it becomes 150=395.10sint(2theta)

OpenStudy (cutiecomittee123):

it turned out to be 197.55sin(2theta)=150
