What is the solution for 50>15x?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Simply divide both sides of the inequality by 15, to isolate x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3 1/3

OpenStudy (mathmale):

That's not an inequality, but rather a value. You started with an inequality and must end with one.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

50>15x Divide both sides by 15. Do NOT drop / omit the inequality sign >.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3 1/3>x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So then it would be {x|x>10/3}?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Not quite, but you're on the right track. Your inequality symbol points in the wrong direction. If 50>15x and you divide both sides by 15, what do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok this is what i got {x| x < 10/3}

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Much better. Very nicely written!
