I think rap is a lot like poetry, like a sonnet. Except there's usually more cussing. Anyone agree?

OpenStudy (chantysquirrel1129**):

Well, some rap does consist of cussing and such, but not all rap has cussing in it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If it's good rap, maybe. but if youre talking about bad rappers, then no :) lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I agree, not all rappers curse though. I can't name a whole bunch who don't but old rappers like Run DMC and Will Smith avoid cursing. Tyler Joseph (if you wanna even consider him a rapper) from twenty øne piløts doesn't curse.

OpenStudy (tanner23456):

Rap lacks the eloquence that true poetry emanates. Rap is more like talking to a beat and rhyming occasionally when the individual feels so inclined. Rap is usually more blunt and obvious while poetry has hidden meanings and even multiple meanings and thought provoking insights.

RAP = Rhythm And Poetry basically

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@tanner23456 True, but some raps do have a lot of meaning.

OpenStudy (tanner23456):

Yeah, it's not very typical of rap artists though. I doubt people listen to rap to identify with the philosophy it contains.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, rap nowadays sucks a$s. Sadly, more genres are going down the same road.

@tanner23456 True,,,,
