[BIG OS suggestion!] Before you read this, no i'm not crazy... I have a good reason behind this, and believe it will help! Imagine if me and thesmartone where mods! WOW os would be clean... we would abuse our power yes... but hell os would be cleaner then ever xD... This is why I suggest this, it will hopefully greatly improve OS by getting rid of the clutter in the open questions for those who are actually looking to help others... (before i continue this, im in no way saying I should be a mod i aknoledge i would be a bad moderator, but maybe with close/bump/kick powers, we ambassadors could actually clean up OS!) We would delete all inapropriate/spam posts, we would close all answered posts... etc etc... But there is a legal issue, but instead of making us mods causing this issue... How about Jr.Ambassadors (ambassadors still in training), Ambassadors (amassadors finished training given only the kick power, and must not abuse it to get the next rank.), Senior Ambassador (the next tier, they should gain the warn, and close/bump/kick powers, and must REQUEST to delete something, can see mod logs) The next tiers should be for mods, This will all be logged, and checked to make sure that mods arent abusing anything. This will allow for trial runs on some new mods that should or should not be moderator. If they do poorly, give em the boot, and if they do good, give em a upgrade! Jr. Moderator they should have the warn and close/bump/kick powers, and must REQUEST to delete something Then the moderator, they should have the warn and close/bump/delete/suspend/kick powers (current moderator powers). Senior Moderator: Gain the ability to BAN, should only be given to the most dedicated moderators who have prooved themself. Supreme Moderator: Gain the ability to IPBAN (and mac-address, though that one will be a LOT harder to accomplish, but its not totally impossible), should only be given to the most dedicated moderators who have prooved themself. would be very useful in some instances, but should only be reserved for the worst of trolls. Some updates go straight to beta, but this ONLY happens on online updates. This extension was made by Jaynator495. Scripts used in this was made by the following OpenStudy users in order of most contributed, Jaynator495, Wio. this extension will allow you to try the OpenStudy projects I'm working on, and leave feedback on what you think about it. How to gain access to my beta team? simple, for now its going to be open. (note: this has nothing to do with what might be in a later OpenStudy update if there's a update you don't like leave a comment on this post of which i can remove the issue.) this extension will add assorted features and bug fixes to be released into the extensions still in the works. For things that would generally require access to the server, it can be accomplished without access to the server due to the way OpenStudy handles requests/posts I cant tell you any more because this can be very abused. I'm just pointing this out before people start saying that some of the features i listed are "impossible" because it would need access to the server.

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

OMG

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

What?

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

that what i said when i realized when i found out i lost over 20 active users in the last 10 days ;-;

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

anywho i finally got around to reposting this xD

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

*

OpenStudy (king.void.):

I don't think I am doing this again :)

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

Bruh... if i hack you again to prove to you my extension had nothing to do with this, will you stop being silly? x'D

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

\(\style{font-size:100px;font-weight:normal;}{\huge\sf VOTE}\) DO you want a off topic section, Yes or no?

OpenStudy (aravindg):

@Jaynator What's with the question? Advertisement about your extension? LOL

Nnesha (nnesha):

NO.

Nnesha (nnesha):

NO. chats already there to chat... i don't want to see *dead chat*

OpenStudy (willie579):

^

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

well, why do we need an off-topic section? it will make more lag and might teach people that you can post anything in any subject.

OpenStudy (willie579):

Why is there a need for Off-Topic? This is a study site. Off-Topic would be like the exact opposite wouldn't it?

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

No, off-topic would allow for assorted off-topic questions to be put, attracting attention, and also would be a place for question that don't necessarily fit in any of the current subjects, or that current subject is dead.

OpenStudy (willie579):

I kinda would see if there was like a garbage can for whenever somebody puts spam in any of the sections a mod can put it in there. But this isn't Facebook or any social media meant for anything "Off-Topic" at all. As Nnesha said, we already have chat.

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

guess i should have ellaborated more, but i was short on time, here ill just change this back to the original topic...

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

Sorry bout' that, just making sure that it worked what i was doing x'D

OpenStudy (willie579):

I do not get it. ;-;

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

If you make an off-topic subject just for users of your extention, you must also make me a moderator of that subject :P

OpenStudy (willie579):

Is the extension even safe? (To make sure I'm not getting it. XD)

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

it is safe.

OpenStudy (willie579):

#TRUSTNOBODY

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Then why ask?

OpenStudy (willie579):

Cuz... I did? .3.

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

welp... many people use it... so its safe lul

OpenStudy (willie579):

#WATCHINMEHBAKM8

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Stop spamming @Willie579

OpenStudy (willie579):

But I'm not spamming. ;~;

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

ya kinda are

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

I like the Big OS Suggestion :P

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

@pooja195 @TheSmartOne @Jaynator495 @EclipsedStar This is aimed at you guys :P

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

and @confluxepic ;p

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

http://prntscr.com/95tpoe http://prntscr.com/95tpri owlcoffee asked if i was postulating myself as a mod xD

pooja195 (pooja195):

Let's clear this issue up once and for all. Jay did hacking in the past agreed. It was wrong. However let me make this clear. If Jay wanted to hack other users he could have. He doesn't need people using the extension just to hack. Also people are lucky they had one of their accounts hacked I had 3 of mines hacked 2 of which i barely use. he hacked my pooja account it was wrong but am i holding a grudge against? NO that means you all should get over it. Jay is doing many good things for openstudy and I encourage you all to get his extension. I use the extension and im 100% satisfied with it.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

+1

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

+1000

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

That took me a while to read all that...I'm getting pretty used to the lengths of Jay's posts by now...not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing. Now back to a question that's nagging me. Which suggestion exactly am I directed to since you tagged me? Big idea or extension advertisement? :P

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Big idea =P

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

big idea xD

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

twas originally a extension post :P

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Well here goes my thoughts (since the majority of mods have gone inactive and only the ambis kept the peace somewhat a few weeks back, I've agreed on small powers). Just a couple of opinionated issues. ∙ Too many ranks. ~ Labeling someone as "junior ambi" wouldn't feel so good for some, they will feel as if they are the "lowest ranking" which could cause social dissatisfaction. ∙ For the mod check system. Upgrading a user just because of good acts could potentially not last. ~ We all are humans (hopefully) and thus we all make emotional responses one way or another at times. That could lead to even more problems if someone has a top rank of sorts. There are young mods, and if they get the top tier responsibility just because of good past history...not good. Other than those, I have no other objections and agree. I do understand that there are new moderators out there that are currently showing activeness, but there are more online ambis than mods at times and we should be able to help others abide by the rules and improvise when there aren't any mods online.

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

ill post my comments as i read them

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

Junior ambi, this is just to indicate that a ambassador is going through training, after training someone is directed to ambassador.

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

i never said all the conditions on that part (after mod check system)

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Given that ambi training is just a month, it's no biggie for a user to wait for an A then...lol "This will allow for trial runs on some new mods that should or should not be moderator. If they do poorly, give em the boot, and if they do good, give em a upgrade!" I noticed the lacking of conditions, but I only assumed that there be a "test" of sorts. After one has experience, etc. Anyways, I don't have much objections to begin with :P

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

XD

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

I guess you got me there, also maybe no kick for ambassadors... hmm... yea kick really doesnt do anything xD

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @Jaynator495 I guess you got me there, also maybe no kick for ambassadors... hmm... yea kick really doesnt do anything xD \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) Actually scratch that, it does make a good trust test!

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

How so?

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

They don't abuse it tada, i'd probably sit there spam kicking pooja from mathematics xD

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

On another note, should I just release a unofficial OS app? Cause this is just ridiculous how long it's taking to get this thing approved

OpenStudy (king.void.):

Knowing you.. You already hacked me like 28193456 times -.- without me knowing.

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

Just popping in to say that an off-topic/recreation section has been suggested for over 3 years but the closest thing we have are those you-know-what sections.

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

But yeah, so have Jr. Ambi powers. Long time suggestion, and it's actually being considered a little at the moment. I doubt it will happen so soon but maybe it will happen.

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @King.Void. Knowing you.. You already hacked me like 28193456 times -.- without me knowing. \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) Only once... the other time you let me in to fix my spam at you ._.

OpenStudy (king.void.):

._.

OpenStudy (cheybree1107):

alot of people that need the most help need to be able to take a break and ask an off topi9c question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it might help if someone in charge saw this :/ @Preetha

thomaster (thomaster):

lel this has been suggested years ago Not that it's a bad suggestion though, it's a very good one

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

i thought so :P

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

and preetha finally agrees XD... we had a convo about this in the meeting thomaster, i brought it up unless im mistaking, and about 8 months to a year ago i made a post about this, but i finally got it all together for a good suggestion xD

thomaster (thomaster):

Can't find the original post for this anymore. I remember putting a list of a new rank system and the powers that come with them. At least the ambi with group-mod rights should be tested in my opinion. Just kick, and closing/deleting posts for a selected group of ambassadors. The rest of the list as far as I remember: 1 regular users and ambassadors 2 chat moderator (only powers to delete posts and issue temporal chat-mutes) 3 group moderator (mod specific for a group, only kick, close and delete + chat) 4 junior moderator (global mod with group moderator rights) 5 global moderator (same as current mods) 6 administrator This makes it way easier to make new moderators and make them rank up when they're doing a good job. When they're not, no big deal as they can't do much damage at that stage yet.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

I like :) but guess what? It probably won't ever happen. ;-;

thomaster (thomaster):

newwp

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

I will make it happen >:3

OpenStudy (willie579):

@Jaynator495 CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

CHALLENGE DESTROYED MWAHAHAHAHA

OpenStudy (willie579):

Aww... RIP Challenge... T^T

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

No i mean i will destroy this challange and win xd

OpenStudy (willie579):

Yeah... but still... RIP. T^T

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

Also, if you bothered reading the whole thing, he recommended JUNIOR moderator. Also, I agree he can't even take being an ambie, but it's not a terrible idea. It's something we could use, especially for chats.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

The logo wasn't enough, huh ?

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

So just because Brainly has it, we can't? Is there a problem with implementing it? If it's useful for us, I don't see why not. It's not reserved purely for one site.

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

Plenty of forums and such have the same thing, don't think Brainly was original with the idea.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

I don't see how useful a logo can be. And if you actually got rid of the chats, you wouldn't need to worry about children swearing and online dating.

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

Don't think I'm dumb. You deleted your comment regarding us "stealing" the idea of Junior Mod from Brainly.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

News flash, kid. There's a moderator on this post deleting comments. So I kind of do thing you're dumb.

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

Chats are a big part of Open Study. It's one of our main reasons for having so much popularity. It is out of control because there is no one present to control them when chaos occurs.

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @Conqueror I don't see how useful a logo can be.\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\)

OpenStudy (conqueror):

Having so much popularity, yet for the wrong reason.

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

Well other than removing them, what do you suggest we do to control chats?

OpenStudy (conqueror):

Ban all the perverts.

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

Well that's what Junior Mods would be useful for. :)

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

When a mod isn't there or if any aren't online, junior mods can at least try to calm down the chat.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

I find it highly likely for junior mods to abuse their powers.

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

It's not like we're going to promote Jay or anything, of course we would choose carefully and strip them of their title if they abuse their powers.

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

What in the world did i miss?

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @♪Chibiterasu It's not like we're going to promote Jay or anything, of course we would choose carefully and strip them of their title if they abuse their powers. \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) Oh god no dont promote me... im still waiting to be demoted xD

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Remember Jaynator, half a year ago when we were arguing in favor of something similar? |dw:1448392428402:dw| We put up alot of reasons but the majority didn't agree.
