Can anybody please help me?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

from the diagram x = y - 1 3x - 2 = 2y + 1 do you follow that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mhm, so how do I do that?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

well you have to solve the system of 2 equations to find x and y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, well, I don't get how to do that. Can you please explain it to me??

OpenStudy (welshfella):

rearranging y = x + 1 2y = 3x - 3 now we can solve these 2 by elimination or substitution

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How do you do that? Can you show it to be step by step?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

ok by elimination multiply the first equation by 2:- -2y = -2x - 2 and we also have 2y = 3x - 3 adding these 2 equations we have 0 = x - 5 x = 5 now to find y we plug x = 5 into y = x + 1 y = 5 + 1 = 6 so the answer is x = 5 , y = 6

btw, I love you. THANK YOU :DDD
