Her daughter is the subject (noun phrase) likes is the verb (predicate) what is left over is the direct object of the verb likes "climbing trees" she does not like trees she likes, "climbing" so though climb is a verb, when we have the "ing" we call it a gerund and treat the phrase "climbing trees" as a noun
