In questions 10-26 you will use transcription and translation to determine the traits of a monster. Step 1: Transcription Step 2: Translation Step 3: Match the protein to the resulting trait. 10. HEAD SHAPE Transcription: DNA strand: TACGGTGAAACT mRNA strand: _____________ Translation: Now, use the chart (above) to determine the amino acids belonging to each codon. AUG CCA CUU UGA 11.________ 12.________ 13.________ 14.___________ @alphadxg @rhr12 Assistance at this? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is asking for the DNA strand to be converted to RNA and the codon's correct?

OpenStudy (rhr12):

yes

OpenStudy (rhr12):

Do you need help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

TACGGTGAAACT would be AUGCCACUUGA? Just confirmation would help :)

OpenStudy (rhr12):

TACGGTGAAACT would be AUGCCACUUUGA

OpenStudy (rhr12):

You missed an "U"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

AUG=Met CCA=Pro CUU=Leu UGA=Stop Correct based off http://imgur.com/2QgEieZ ? Doh!

OpenStudy (alphadxg):

@RhythmicTune Correct, because this is not yet, DNA replication, since transcription is the synthesis of the mRNA strand you did exactly the correct thing.

OpenStudy (rhr12):

yes. you are correct by this time

OpenStudy (alphadxg):

Yes, your correct, since you made your mRNA strand to make the protein, the first protein will make Met.

OpenStudy (alphadxg):

Met = start codon, so that would make sense if that's the first protein made.

15. BODY SHAPE Transcription: DNA strand: TACCTTGTAATT mRNA strand: _______________ Translation: determine the amino acids resulting from each codon. AUG GAA CAU UAA 16.___________ 17.___________ 18. ___________ 19.____________ AUGGAACAUUAA? Met, Glu, His, and Leu?

OpenStudy (alphadxg):

So basically what you just did was, you took a template strand of DNA, and made mRNA, and this mRNA will now be used to make proteins. |dw:1448160414201:dw|
