An old thread but still relevant discussion. You can see the pain of a teacher who finds his/her students cheating in the tests. http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/50f4f22de4b061aa9f9a8cc2
Eye-opening indeed. Posts like these never stop becoming relevant. In fact, as OpenStudy has the privilege of receiving new users on a daily basis, it becomes pertinent for users to know that OpenStudy prides itself for being a tutoring site, not just a more sophisticated form of yahoo answers. We want to keep OpenStudy full of integrity, as we want to be supported by online institutions, not shunned. Thanks for sharing @AravindG
This incident is one of the reasons why I have always been a vigilant moderator especially when I found cases of cheating in the site. I have been called names but never did I let any cases slip by. Let's hope the community also benefits from it. @Jamierox4ev3r The pleasure is mine :)
I see this all the time. Yes it's frustrating, and i'm glad that a mod actually cares :) There are mods who don't care and just fly past those posts but i'm glad the you take the time to recognize such posts and take action against them let the haterz hate we all know that you are an amazing mod doing your job :D Thanks for being a good mod. And thanks for helping the community! :)
for those that don't want to go through the whole thing, MissTeacherLady16: Preetha Am I not allowed to be frustrated by this? When I spend HOURS trying to think of innovative and helpful ways to teach challenging concepts in biology, when I make myself available for extra help tutoring, when I spend the rest of my time calling students to offer them help and discuss ways to improve their grade, and then I open test after test AFTER test that not only has the incorrect answer but one that was copied and pasted from this site? Does that not sound frustrating? Would that not make you angry and feel that all the time you spent thinking about the welfare and academic sucess of your students was time WASTED? You say you're aware of the situation yet you do nothing about it. Frustration, anger....doesn't even begin to explain where I'm at right now. And what's worse is that these students see NOTHING wrong with what they're doing. What's your solution?
thanks mods, for taking a firm stand on cheating. Not because its immoral, but because it would set up very young people for very big failures later on.
=(
You know whats always a fun thing to do? This: Here are all the answers to your quiz/test its all written on this website. Good luck! And copy this before a mod or someone comes ;) http://pages.citebite.com/a4o3b6r4a2tjy
LOL
^ @pooja195 ah yes! I love that trick. I've seen a few people use it, and I think it's brilliant. putting trickery into use
And some even fall for it c:
I know I fell for it. When I was looking at a post, a user had posted this link when the asker was asking for answers. I was preparing to say something, but then I clicked on the link and realized; it was most definitely not answers. Very effective indeed.
I also fell for it once, I saw this user giving another user that link
Yep and now I certainly hope it's one more method to help stop cheaters :) Use it to your advantage :)
you are talking about those people who don't lie// posts like this *i need answers math final exam* *anyone have the answers for math test* (then u can use http://pages.citebite.com/a4o3b6r4a2tjy link) you can't change the reality there were students from flvs/connection asking for help on a test they are still doing this and this will continue i guess.... they don't need to mention *Test/exam* word to show that they are cheating.
what about those people who just post the question without mentioning its a test....
Cheaters gonna cheat, and moderators gonna ban.
lol...
~ it can be assumed that any question that starts with #23 and ends with (2 points) had been copy pasted from a test ~ can this really be assumed and should it be automatically reported/deleted?
if that's the most common trend to get the question out there, then maybe yeah because whenever I see that it's like I'm thinking is this user taking a test while being on openstudy at the same time?
no first they login to os to see is there anybody who will able to help then they start taking test...

"We go there 180 days 200 days a year"
I don't know but... what if we did make a CA group? It'd be a lot like rounding up animals for slaughter... if you know what I mean. ;) Mind me for the terrible simile, though it works just fine.
I have seen connections academy exams. The usually began with a number and (1 point) at the end.
The post is plagued by people finding it through google. Kids searching "Connection Academy group" and stuff. Maybe change the godforsaken title and delete ~Chance~'s comment about making a CA group.
if you all know questions with (6 points) at the end are test question why don't u givve em a warning or suspension it doesn't have to be like directly asking for *test question* *answer for algebra 1 test*
Don't we have some CA mods on this site?
