it was a bribery scandal that took place in america from 1921 to 1922. what happened was someone had leased navy petroleum reserves at teapot dome in Wyoming to private oil companies at low rates without competitive bidding so they didn't charge them more for it. the guy who leased the oil got found to have accepted bribes from the private oil companies and became the first cabinet member to go to prison
