You can pull out a 4 for your problem, 4(5b-4), we are factoring out a 4.

there are 2 'terms' in youir expression they are 20b & -16 to 'FActor' means finding a value that divide into both terms, so you can separate it from each term (as shown by @Astrophysics above) So 4 is a common factor for 20b and -16. When you divide it into each term you get teh expression as shown by @Astrophysics
