Help with simplification (pretty please? :X)

OpenStudy (zenmo):

OpenStudy (zenmo):

\[x(12-\frac{ x }{ 2 }-\frac{ \pi }{ 4 }x) + \frac{ \pi }{ 8 }x^2\] \[=12x-\frac{ 1 }{ 2}x^2-\frac{ \pi }{ 4 }x^2 ... ???\]

Directrix (directrix):

Are you doing part I or part 2?

OpenStudy (zenmo):

Part 2, I want to know how to get \[14x-\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }x^2-\frac{ \pi }{ 8}x^2\]. I don't know how to simplify \[x(14-\frac{ x }{ 2 }-\frac{ \pi }{ 4}x)\].

OpenStudy (zenmo):

\[x(14-\frac{ x }{ 2 }-\frac{ \pi }{ 4}x)+\frac{ \pi }{ 8 }x^2\] **

Directrix (directrix):

I get what you want to know but I need to ask a question. In part one, do you know where the ( 14 - x/2 - (pi *x)/4 ) comes from?

OpenStudy (zenmo):

Yes

Directrix (directrix):

You want to write all of this as a single fraction? Is that correct? |dw:1448279485689:dw|
