Marietta is selling cheeses for the holiday fundraiser. On Monday, she sold 7/9 of the boxes of cheeses. On Tuesday she restocked her supply and sold 0.85 of the boxes of cheeses. On which day did Marietta sell more boxes? Explain.
I already know that the decimal 0.85 is 85/100 as a fraction. I just need some help simplifying it.
Ok this one's not that difficult. Convert both 7/9 and 0.85 to percentages or fractions out of 100
7/9 = 0.875
No, I want to put 85/100 in simplest form. FYI can you just follow me because this is the way I learned it in my class.
Ok
Actually I think knowing what 7/9 means could help. Thanks.
Then i believe you should find the GCF of 85 and 100 then divide both by that number to get your answer.
No the number was originally a decimal. It was .85 so I now know she sold more on Tuesday than Monday.

Yes by doing it the first way which is the easiest. If you wish to do it with your class next time though use the second way i said :)
Hold on can you give me the steps you used to find out the decimal version of 7/9
???
Oh just divide 7 by 9. Fraction to decimal: Numerator divided by Denominator Decimal to Percent: Decimal times 100 (or move the decimal two places backwards)
My dad told me that you divide the denominator by the numerator.

@Christian_10_
No sorry but he may be confused. Numerator is the top Denominator is the bottom
No he did a problem on my homwork that way and got it right.
@cathyangs
If you look at it, it is set up exactly like a division problem. 7/9 is the same thing as 7 divided by 9
@pooja195
@TheBallisticOne is already doing a nice job helping :) let them continue to help you
ok
ballistic one what is your first name so i don't have to just keep tiping ballistic one
Unless the answer is exactly 1 i don't see how Denominator divided by the numerator would work for this specific problem.
And my name is Alex :)
OK Thank you Alex;)
Denominator divided by numerator works on some specific problems where it's called a recipricol but that is not here. :)
You are very welcome :)
Can you type in three sentences the answer to this problem?
