Ok, now a real question. What are differential equations? Im reading online but i just dont get it

OpenStudy (kainui):

Well what do you think a differential equation is? I can help you a lot more if I know what I'm starting with

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2+2=5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:D

OpenStudy (cathyangs):

So in an applied sense, a differential equation is one that relates the function of something S, with its derivative, dS/dt, where t is time. A real life example could be that the number of people that get sick, S, is dependent on the rate of people getting sick over time as well as the rate of people recovering over time, dS/dt and dRecovering/dt. Does this make sense?
