Will fan and medal, PLEASE HELP! Find the coordinates of the image after a reflection in the given line. problem in comments.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\left[\begin{matrix}-8 & 1 & -7 \\ -7 & -5 & 1\end{matrix}\right]\];y-axis

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can any of y'all help me @pooja195 @TheSmartOne @thomaster @Compassionate @AlexUchiha @EclipsedStar @welshfella @Whitemonsterbunny17

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jigglypuff314 can you help me out again :)

OpenStudy (welshfella):

the y coordinates will be the same the x coordinates will have different signs eg -4 would become 4

OpenStudy (welshfella):

gotta go right now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which are the y coordinates?! I have no idea what I'm doing with matrices @welshfella

OpenStudy (cathyangs):

The x coordinates flip signs, while the y coordinates stay the same, because flipping over the y axis is like turning the page of a book - the order of letters flip, but the line stays the same. In your matrix, I think the top values are the x-coordinates paired with the bottom values, which are y-coordinates. Hope this helps.

So it would be \[\left[\begin{matrix}7 &-1 & 8\\ 1 &-5 & -7\end{matrix}\right]\] ??? @cathyangs

OpenStudy (cathyangs):

I think that is correct!

thank you so much! @cathyangs
