OpenStudy (celinegirl):

Which of the following points lie in the solution set to the following system of inequalities? y < −3x + 3 y < x + 2 (1, −5) (1, 5) (5, 1) (−1, 5)

OpenStudy (welshfella):

plug the given values of x and y into the 2 inequalities and see which ones fit

OpenStudy (welshfella):

we'll try the first one:- y < -3x + 3 ; - x = 1, y = -5:- -5 < -3 + 3 -5 < 0 which is true now try the second equation:- y < x + 2 -5 < 1 + 2 -5 < 3 so what do you think? Is this the correct point?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

i guess you know that < means 'less than' ?

OpenStudy (celinegirl):

erm not sure lol.. and yes i know what that means @welshfella
