OpenStudy (spinex12):

Review the scenario. A student copies his older brother's research paper and turns it in for a grade. Which best identifies a consequence for this behavior? The student will fail the assignment. The student will have to write a letter of apology to his or her older brother. The student will have to apologize to the teacher. The student will have to promise never to plagiarize again.

OpenStudy (spinex12):

Which best identifies an element of an effective summary? The author's name must be included in the text of the paper. The author's tone must be changed. The author's ideas must be rephrased into your own words. The author's professional qualifications must be included.

OpenStudy (in-eo):

I would have to say I feel that "The student will have to write a letter of apology to his or her older brother." and "The student will have to apologize to the teacher." best fits the identifying a consequence for this behavior based on the fact that it shows remorse and sincerity towards the act that was done. I think the most important would be apologizing to their brother over the teacher because they did steal their brothers work. I believe that it's the correct answer, even though I could be wrong. I feel like that it has a more broad and understandable consequence towards his actions because everyone does make mistakes or has a lack of good decision making at times. I think the best summarization is "The author's ideas must be rephrased into your own words" because you should never use the words of others to express your own thoughts, unless you're going to quote otherwise use the quote with the authors name and information.

OpenStudy (tardis):

I disagree with @in-eo. The consequence for his actions would be a punishment and considering most (if not all) schools and universities have a zero-tolerance policy for plagerism, the student will likely be failed for the assignment. Nowhere in the question does it state that the student feels remorse, it's just asking for what action would be taken as a result of their inappropriate actions.
