OpenStudy (tkriz972):

The general idea behind the electron transport chain is : that ADP is converted to ATP that electrons are shuttled down the chain of electron acceptors, until molecular oxygen acts as the final electron acceptor. That respiration begins with glycolysis and is regulated by enzymes in each step. None of the above.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In the electron transport chain electrons are carried down a chain of electron acceptors until molecular oxygen acts as the final electron acceptor. ATP is produced later but is not a direct response to the electron transport chain. The third option is true but does not apply to the electron transport chain.
