MEDAL/FAN/TESTIMONIAL Let f(x) be a line with slope -5 and y intercept 0 with domain {0, 1, 2, 3}, and let g(x) = {(0, 0), (1, -1), (2, -4), (3, -9)}. Compare the two functions. List the domain and range for both f(x) and g(x). Are the x intercepts the same or different?
What do you need to know to tackle this problem? Have you considered breaking the problem statement up into two parts: 1) Let f(x) be a line with slope -5 and y intercept 0 with domain {0, 1, 2, 3}. Graph it. 2) let g(x) = {(0, 0), (1, -1), (2, -4), (3, -9)} Graph this line. Review: What do "domain" and "range" mean? Hint: The domain of f(x) is given explicitly. The domain of g(x) is given implicitly; you must find the four x-values that make up the domain and then write D as a set.
PS: I'd prefer you skip the medal/fan/testimonial part. Some people are on OpenStudy with the desire to help others learn, not to win medals. ;)
That is a form of gratitude.
