OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

@mathstudent55

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

i think 1 is verano

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Do you understand what each sentence means?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

1 is correct.

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

no i dont know what all of them mean.

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

2 is saying Alli tomamos el _________________ y nadamos. meaning there take and swim.

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

I have all the defenitions translated if u need them.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

to sunbathe: tomar el sol

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

oh ok

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

thanks so 2 is sol meaning sun

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Correct. There (at the beach) we sunbathe and swim.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

YOu see that 3 starts with "La gente toma el sol..."

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

nice something I should do during winter. :) jk (why do they give summer hw when its winter geesh.)

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

yea..

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

You need to learn summer terms and activities while you're in school. If they wait till summer, you'll be vacationing and you'll never learn these words and expressions.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

What do you think of 3?

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

True true, good point.

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

i think it is mar?

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

meaning sea.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

It's not mar "sea". Can you translate 3?

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

ok ill try

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

people take the sun?

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

huh

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

3. La gente toma el sol para estar _______________. Literal: The people take the sun to be _______________. Better English: People sunbathe to be ______________.

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

OOHHHH I KNOW IT IS IT bronceada?

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

tanned?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Correct. That means "suntanned"

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

its weird when i tried translating bronceada it thinks it is a pavement, then I put broncear and it said tann.

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

*tan

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

translators these days.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

The word "bronce" means "bronze" in English. Bronze is an metal alloy containing copper. Its color looks like tanned skin.

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

Ok 4. is invierno i think

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

yup thanks for telling me my friend that makes sense

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Correct. In winter we go to the mountains to ski.

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

1. En el _____________vamos a la playa. 2. Alli tomamos el _________________ y nadamos. 3. La gente toma el sol para estar _______________. 4. Pero en el ________________ vamos a las montanas a esquiar. 5. Subimos la montana en un _______________. 6. Mis amigos bajan la __________________ para expertos. Word bank: telesilla, sol, pista, verano, invierno, bronceada, pincipiantes, mar.

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

to make it easier. i post it again to not keep scrolling up

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Great idea. I was tired of so much scrolling.

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

lol same. :D

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

5. Subimos la montana en un _______________.

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

oh is it telesilla?

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

the escalator things?

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

or chair whatever u call em.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Correct. Telesilla. Chairlift. Notice that silla (chair) is feminine. La silla. On the other hand, telesilla is masculine. El telesillla.

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

and i think last one is pista but im not really sure.

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

yup i see. i saw the word for chair in it so it made sense for me to say telesilla.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Correct. pista is trail, or path or track

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

YAY! man thank you soooo much, you made me understand my stuff way more now that you made me think about it! You are a 100% Spanish Genius mi amigo!

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Also, in 5 the last word before the blank is "un" which is masculine. You need a masculine word. Telesilla is masculine (un telesilla) even though silla (chair) is feminine (una silla).

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

ok i see.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

In Spanish, since all nouns are either masculine or feminine, just having the word un before the blank is a hint.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Great. I'm glad you aced it.

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

lol not without you! Without you I wouldn't even know with Translators.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

LOL I'm glad to have been able to help.

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

Thanks alot and thanks for all the people you have helped. :)

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

I go to Mexico about every month for missionary so my parents decided I should learn Spanish. Now im in Spanish 2.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

That sounds like a good idea. Keep studying it!
