By Thales Theorem http://www.mathopenref.com/thalestheorem.html which is a special case of the inscribed angle theorem, the angle EGF is going to be 90 degrees. The rule is that if the arc is 180 degrees, then the inscribed angle is half of that (180/2 = 90).
