OpenStudy (sarahjoy26):

PLEASE help me with coordinate pane someone! Promise medal and fan! Use integer values of x from -3 to 3 to graph the equation y = -2x^2 + 3 Please help.

OpenStudy (pawanyadav):

-2x^2+3=0 is a quadratic equation do you know how to plot them

OpenStudy (sarahjoy26):

I guess

OpenStudy (sarahjoy26):

I don't know

OpenStudy (sarahjoy26):

I know how to plot coordinates, I don't know how to plot equations

OpenStudy (sarahjoy26):

I just dont understand the problem

OpenStudy (sarahjoy26):

@Pawanyadav Are you still here?

OpenStudy (sarahjoy26):

Anyone?

OpenStudy (sarahjoy26):

@mathmale Can you help me?

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

first of all, what are the intergers from -3 to 3, inclusive

OpenStudy (sarahjoy26):

-3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, and 3 right?

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

great, now, according to the equation given, what are the y values corresponding to each value you just wrote

OpenStudy (sarahjoy26):

39, 19, 7, 3, -1, -13, and -33

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

fantastic! now plot the following points on a corrdinate plane: (-3,39),(-2,19),(-1,7),(0,3),(1,-1),(2,-13),(3,-33)

OpenStudy (sarahjoy26):

ok

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

Finally, connect all the points in this order

OpenStudy (sarahjoy26):

Where do i get a coordinate plane?

OpenStudy (sarahjoy26):

nevermind

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

A coordinate plane is a plane made of the horizontal or x axis, and the vertical or y axis, the intersection is set to be (0,0)

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

your equation should be -(2x)^2+3, not -2x^2+3 because power take priority over multiplication

OpenStudy (sarahjoy26):

I know but where do i find one to wrte on?

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

just draw one yourself

OpenStudy (sarahjoy26):

ok I'm done

OpenStudy (sarahjoy26):

It's a straight line going north-west

OpenStudy (sarahjoy26):

Hello @caozeyuan ?

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

it cannt be, you are going to see eith a valley or a hill, 100%

OpenStudy (sarahjoy26):

What?

OpenStudy (sarahjoy26):

Show me what it is supposed to look like

OpenStudy (sarahjoy26):

Hellooooo

OpenStudy (sarahjoy26):

Anyone????

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

I plot it on google, and here it is

OpenStudy (sarahjoy26):

oh ok

OpenStudy (sarahjoy26):

What about y = 1/3 |x| -2 ?
