Step One: Select two of the grievances from the list below. No trials by jury Not able to trade freely Unfair taxes Quartering troops in your home Not able to vote for government leaders Standing armies in your neighborhood Judges’ salaries and jobs at the will of the king Step two:Write a fictional newspaper story about how two of these events occurred today. Include a title for your story. Write at least one paragraph for each grievance you chose in Step One. You should have at least two paragraphs, one for each grievance, when you are finished.

Pretend that the Declaration of Independence never occurred and that these are still problems in society today.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can help with some examples or choices, but you have to do the news paper. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No trials by jury - Would cause most cases to be completely unfair and biased, bribery among Judges would be high. Not able to trade freely - Imagine not being able to go on Amazon and buy some amazing things, except Zebras. :( Unfair taxes - High tax rates, would be nearly communist. Quartering troops in your home - We most likely would have most troops being arrogant jackholes marching into your houses. Not able to vote for government leaders - More communism! Standing armies in your neighborhood - Effectively martial law, they most likely would be able to abuse and assault the populace. Judges’ salaries and jobs at the will of the king - I don't really know how to explain this. :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I chose to do no trials by jury as my first paragraph, and here is what I have so far. On Friday, November 27, An incident occurred at a farmers market. 15-year-old Austin Jones was strolling by when he notice an apple in his way. He picked it up and saw a apple stand across from it. While walking towards it he was tackled and arrested by a British officer for stealing. Although while being taken to jail he overheard the stand owner complaining to the other officers that his apples had fell down and rolled away.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would suggest pick the two that you have most interest in.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That is a good point for that paragraph, but I would suggest add something about his possible sentence and more about a hearing from what he had said.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Like this? At his hearing, today the judge accounted him guilty for stealing and sentenced him to two years in prison. Austin explained that he was returning the apple and not stealing but the Judge did not care. He repeatedly asked the judge for a jury trial but she refused by the order of the king.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

People in the neighborhood are now protesting for his freedom.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Exactly. :) What about the second paragraph?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not sure what to write about, its between Quartering troops in your home or standing armies in your neighborhood.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Considering how short both are, I would do a combination as the two are extremely similar.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, give me a couple minutes to write :)

Woman is a spy Imagine being watched, every move you make everything you do someone is watching you. Now imagine being accused as a spy. 16-year-old Jordan March is having that problem. The solider in her home is accusing her of being a spy for the enemy. Jordan has been sneaking around, going places after school and lying to her parents for the past month. The soldiers think that she is meeting up with the enemy and giving them information but the truth is Jordan is in love. She is in love with a boy that her parents don’t approve of. Even though the truth is now told the soldiers in the neighborhood are still convinced that she is a spy. The one in her home even hid a camera in her room.

here is what I have so far

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its good, but it doesn't explain what happens to her or about the standing army in the neighborhood.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how does this sound? The army in her neighborhood is investigating her house and her electronics for any information. Many people are helping Jordan protest the army and some are being arrested for it Jordan hopes that they would stop overreacting and believe that she is not a spy.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mhmn, thats good. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks for the help :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you help me with one more thing?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I need to come up with a tittle for the first paragraph.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

title*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmm, I would do something based off an apple for one. Josh's Apple?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That sounds good thanks :)
