OpenStudy (help!!!!):

A rectangular sheet of paper has an area of 24 square inches. 4 hole punches with the radius of .5 inches are punched in the sheet. What percent of the area of the rectangle has been punched out?

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

would it be pi/2400?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you are searching for a percentage...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Firstly, what is the area of the paper? Secondly, what is the area of one of these holes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you figure out the rest?

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

So 24 is the area and the area of each circle .25pi and there are 4 so .25 *4=1pi

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

so this is what I got pi/24

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

and yes I'm looking for the percentage

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

Like I understand what the heck the problem is asking for but my answer doesn't match with the answers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer can't be pi/2400

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is not a percentage

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

Here are the answer choices pi/2400, 24-pi/2400, 25pi/6, 50(6-pi)/3, 25(24-pi)/6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You're close with your answer, you've just multiplied the wrong thing by 100.\[x=\dfrac{\pi}{24}\times100=\dfrac{100\pi}{24}=\dfrac{25\pi}{6}\]

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

OHH

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

Thank you so much for your time!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You're welcome. I'm off now so good luck with the rest of your questions.

OpenStudy (help!!!!):
