Which expression represents the volume of the rectangular prism shown?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (daniel.ohearn1):

The second one will have terms all with x and the first one will have three terms... So looks like D is the answer for the first and C is the answer for the second. Does that make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well what did you multiply together to get your answer?

OpenStudy (daniel.ohearn1):

First multiply (x+3)(x+5)

OpenStudy (daniel.ohearn1):

multiply that product by x and you'll have the first terms x^3 and 8x^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got x^2 +8x+ 15

OpenStudy (daniel.ohearn1):

Then multiply (x+3)(x+8) by (x^2) and you'll have the first terms be x^4 and 11x^3 so the answers should be obvious..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh we were doing different ones

OpenStudy (daniel.ohearn1):

what you got still must be multiplied by x since we're dealing with a 3d object

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got that one. yeah the answer is c for the 2nd one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so D for the first one

OpenStudy (daniel.ohearn1):

Yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OK I got it. Thanks.
