I am not exactly sure of the directions but do you mean: \[4(2x - 5) = 8x - 20\] replace x for 2 (for example) \[4(2(2)- 5) = 4(4) - 20 \rightarrow 16 - 20 = 16 - 20 \rightarrow -4 = -4\]

no not quite make sure you're writing this out and not trying to just do it in your head bc you'll easily mix up the symbols. I did it the first time i went through the problem and had to redo it lol
