In the fable of the tortoise and the hare, the tortoise eventually wins the road race over the fast running hare. As an observant science student, the data table above gives several clues to the tortoise's win. Read the explanations below and pick the explanation that BEST fits the data.

A) The hare never changed his speed throughout the race. Eliminate B) The hare took shorter rest stops during the race than the tortoise did. C) The hare had a constant rate of acceleration throughout the race; the tortoise stopped to rest. D) The tortoise moved at a constant velocity throughout the race; the hare stopped to rest periodically.

Im thinking its A or C

OpenStudy (brrandyn):

The hare did not accelerate (therefore, C is not possible), velocity was consistent with the exception between intervals 2-3. What is the "eliminate" notation referring to? I'd deduce the answer as D, that is, if "periodically" entails an instance. Choice A isn't logical because there is no displacement between 2-3, thus, the statement where the "hare never changed his speed" is false.
