The tile pattern shown was used in Pompeii for paving. If the diagonals of each rhombus are 2 inches & 3 inches, what area makes up each cube in the pattern?

The diagram looks to be 3-D to me although I know it is not. The area of one rhombus is 1/2 the product of the diagonals. Area = 1/2 * 2 * 3 = 3 square inches. The diagonals of a rhombus are also perpendicular.

so it'll be 3 in^2

Directrix (directrix):

No.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes thank you.

Directrix (directrix):

You are welcome.

Directrix (directrix):

I suppose the "cube" is really a square of side 3". The area of a square of side 3 is ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok got, it now

Directrix (directrix):

Good to hear.
