Do you know how to rid the absolute value symbol?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's where you should start first

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i dont know how can you please help me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sure

OpenStudy (sloppycanada):

Absolute value basically makes everything inside the two lines positive.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To get rid of the absolute value, we have to include the bounds at positive and negative values. Such that: -12 > x + 5 > 12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We keep the inequality sign in the same direction as well.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now you need to continue to simplify -12 > x+5 > 12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let me know what you get and I'd be happy to check it for you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u move 5 over to the other side and because of this it changes signs and becomes a negative. x=12-5 x=7

OpenStudy (alex136):

.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait what

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whats the anwser
