can someone better explain slopes and slope of a line. thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

One of the most important properties of a straight line is in how it angles away from the horizontal. This concept is reflected in something called the "slope" of the line.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that good

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

Slope is just the difference in y over the difference in x. for example, lets say 1 is the slope. Slope is rise over run, therefore we rise one unit, and run one unit.

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

|dw:1448922956281:dw|use this as an example....lets say the y intercept is at 0 (the origin). You rise up one unit and run one unit (if the slope is 1). Points (1, 1), (2, 2), (3, 3), (4, 4) and so on are on this line :)
