1/8 – 3/10 Answers: -7/40 -3/40 7/40 17/40

OpenStudy (miss.rose):

@Ghostgate @zoeeh127 Please Help!

OpenStudy (miss.rose):

Is it -7/40?

OpenStudy (ghostgate):

Okay you have 1/8 - 3/10, before you do anything you have to even out your denominators, do you remember how to do that?

OpenStudy (miss.rose):

Yes, the common denominator is 40.

OpenStudy (ghostgate):

Good, so what are the nominators?

OpenStudy (miss.rose):

I am not sure.

OpenStudy (ghostgate):

Okay you know the denominators are 40 based off of the Least Common Multiple Scenario, however the nominators are multiplied based off of how many times it took the denominators to reach 40. So... how many times does 8 go into 40? And how many times does 10 go into 40?

OpenStudy (miss.rose):

5 and 4

OpenStudy (ghostgate):

Alright, since 8 goes into 40 5 times, you multiply it's nominator 1 by 5, so you have 5/40, for the other since 10 goes into 40 4 times, you multiply it's nominator 3 by 4, so you have 12/40, now simply do the math, what is: 5/40 - 12/40 = ?

OpenStudy (miss.rose):

-7/40

OpenStudy (ghostgate):

Exactly so -7/40 is your answer, do you get it now?

OpenStudy (miss.rose):

Yes, Thank you!

OpenStudy (ghostgate):

You're welcome! Have a great day! ;) {---Ghostgate---}

OpenStudy (miss.rose):

You to! Again, thanks! I got it correct. I wish I could give you more than a medal but I can't. Sorry! Well, Bye!
