Please Help! Parts of a plant that are underground are called _____, while those above ground are called _____. 1)Shoots/roots 2)Roots/shoots

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer is b roots are underground

OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):

Tip to remember: "roots" - where things start from (e.g. ancestral roots), and plants grow from UNDER the ground; "shoots" - well, they shoot OUT aboveground... (also by process of elimination, it would have to be shoots haha) :p

OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):

Do you still need help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kinda.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would the first one be shoots or roots.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

roots/shoots

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay. thx.

OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):

again, plants grow from under the ground. Roots are where something starts from, and the plant starts by growing from underground, so the aboveground part would have to be shoots.

OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):

:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay. thx for ur help.
