Is the sentence simple or compound? We are almost ready, but we can't find our swimsuits. A. compound B. simple Is the sentence simple or compound? Diego, Alma, and Manuel sat and watched the fireworks in the night sky. A. simple B. compound

OpenStudy (peach3113):

, but

OpenStudy (peach3113):

There is a conjunction.

OpenStudy (maddie82502):

so wouldn't it be a simple

OpenStudy (peach3113):

Yes. Another way you can tell is because there are two subjects and two verbs in the first sentence.

OpenStudy (peach3113):

In the second sentence, for the first half, there are three subjects and one verb, but the second, (not showing a comma between and and sat, but it is still separated because of the conjunction) it only has one verb there, no subject.

OpenStudy (peach3113):

So what do you think the second sentence is?

OpenStudy (maddie82502):

I think it is a simple bc it has commas

OpenStudy (peach3113):

That isn't why, but yes, it is simple. It is simple because there isn't a subject to go with the second verb.
