I realize now that 3/2 would be 1 & 1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So each bag weights 21/4 (same as 5 and 1/4)pounds To find out what 3/2 (same as 1 and 1/2) Multiply 21/4 by 3/2 and you get 63/8 Divide it out and you get 7 and 7/8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

SO 7 and 7/8 is answer? im confused what about 1/8?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You're basically doing 1 x 1.5 = 1.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can tell 7 and 7/8 is right if you convert everything to decimals (easier to work with) 7 and 7/8=63/8=7.875 Now if you work everything from the start with decimals 5 and 1/4=21/4=5.25 5.25 x 1.5 = 7.875 or 5.25/2 = 2.625 5.25 + 2.625 = 7.875
