the theater club sells a total of 101 tickets for $164. A student ticket costs $1. An adult ticket cost $2.50. How many students tickets were sold?

Let x= number of student tickets and y= number of adult tickets. x+y=101, the total number of tickets sold. Then your next equation would be 1x+2.50y=164. Now use substitution or elimination to solve the equations.
