plz help These items are involved in sexual reproduction. Which one of these may also be involved in asexual reproduction? A. eggs B. spores C. sperm or D. seeds

OpenStudy (aaronq):

What do you think the right answer is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b or c maybe?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

asexual reproduction "is a type of reproduction by which offspring arise from a single organism, and inherit the genes of that parent only; it does not involve the fusion of gametes and almost never changes the number of chromosomes." (courtesy of google) so they dont include gametes (sex cells, e.g. eggs), can you eliminate some of the options now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so eggs is not it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and b c and d are left

OpenStudy (aaronq):

sperm are also sex cells

OpenStudy (aaronq):

are seeds?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

um i think no

OpenStudy (aaronq):

you're right, by the time two sex cells fuse from a plant (egg and pollen), they're actually an organism (a plant embryo). So it looks like you have your answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so seed?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

no, seed is a plant embryo right? spores is the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok thx

OpenStudy (aaronq):

no problem, look up spore on google though. fungi are weird organisms

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok
