I have been staring at this problem for days.. /.\ i cant solve it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To solve this, you need to set up an equation x = cost before tax x(0.06) = cost of tax 7.95 = the total cost of the item x + x(0.06) = 7.95 Solve for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x + x(0.06) = 7.95 multiply x into the parenthesis x +0.06x = 7.95 add the x's together (x = 1 x) 1.06x = 7.95 divide both sides by 1.06 x = $7.50

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@porkbuns so that is the answer? $7.50?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep, 7.50 , not sure if you need the dollar sign or not...online problems can be a bit annoyingly picky

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is what i got, and i hate online sites

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I feel your pain...working through my own set of online problems too :P They couldn't have made it any more vague by asking what the ? in the addition problem is with 2 question marks... try 94

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I tried all of the answers you could think of, thank you for helping, im gonna ask my teacher if i can skip it ,:) THANKS!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright, good luck...these online homeworks that teachers seem to love so much can get really irritating...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

MY teacher said it was 100

OpenStudy (anonymous):

see

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I see. Guess it meant by the "? % of cost ($7.95). I still find that question misleading. Hope you got credit (つω⊂* )
