without solving decide witch method; Graphing, substitution,or elimination.Explaining? y=3x-1 3x-2y=8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

anyone help idk which one it is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Solving for x and y values right?

hero (hero):

They give you that y is equal to an expression.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes but wich one would be the right one for this equation :graphing, substitution, or elimination

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You want to "sub" in (3x-1) for the value of y into the 2nd equation in order to solve for x, which you would then use to solve for y.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so sub would be a good one for this equation?

hero (hero):

If y is equal to the expression in the first equation then you can take that same expression and replace it with y in the second equation. What do you call that?

hero (hero):

Oh great @porkbuns gave away the answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no its ok don't worry I understand now isn't that the important thing?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I tried to be as subtle as possible (∗ᵕ̴᷄◡ᵕ̴᷅∗)՞
